 Introduction:

 

The Short term Intership viva for III B.Com students  was successfully conducted on 6th September 2025 in the Library.  The purpose of the viva was to assess the students command of their research area, and their performance was evaluated based on weekly activity logs,  project evaluation, presentations, and written answers.

Student performance

18 Students participated in the viva. Students delivered clear oral presentations and submitted their project reports in PDF format. They also submitted written answers to 10 viva questions. Over all, students demonstrated strong teamwork and active participation.

Overview of Standards and Topics Discussed

The STI-VIVA session followed a structured approach aligned with the  academic standards, ensuring relevance and quality. The major topics discussed were:

a) Sales force

  • Introduction to Customer Relationship Management.
  • Use of cloud-based platforms for managing sales, leads, and customer data.
  • Importance in business automation and customer engagement.

b) Tally  ERP9

  • Practical application in maintaining financial records.
  • Exposure to Tally ERP 9, ledger entries, GST calculations, and report generation.
  • Use in small to medium business environments.

c) Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning (AI & ML)

  • Basic concepts and types of AI (Narrow AI, General AI).
  • Introduction to machine learning models.
  • Use cases in commerce: fraud detection, customer analytics, inventory forecasting.

d) Cyber Security

  • Understanding online threats such as phishing, malware, and ransomware.
  • Importance of data protection, firewalls, encryption.
  • Role of cyber ethics and digital responsibility in business.

 Knowledge and Skills Gained

From this STI-VIVA program, students gained:

  • Practical Exposureto modern business and technology tools.
  • Improved Understandingof real-world applications in commerce.
  • Awareness of Career Opportunitiesin CRM, Fintech, Data Science, and IT Security.
  • Enhanced Soft Skills: Confidence in answering viva questions, public speaking, and critical thinking.
  • Basic Technical Skillsrelated to Tally operations, AI concepts, and cyber hygiene practices.

Conclusion:

 

The Short term internship viva was successfully conducted in Library. Students showed interest, responsibility, and awareness about online Course. They have knowledge about topic. Their performance was sincere and appreciable overall.

Report on Seminar on Income Tax

Loyola Degree College (YSRR), Pulivendula, organized a seminar on “Practical Insights of Income Tax & Form 16” to enhance students’ understanding and knowledge of income tax policies. The seminar aimed to provide practical exposure to the concepts of income tax, especially focusing on the head ‘Salary’ and its implications for employees.

On the request of Mrs. P. Ganga Devi, Head of the Department of Commerce, the session was conducted by Ms. Sai Padma Reddy, Founder of the Vise Institute, who shared her valuable expertise on the subject.

Ms. Reddy elaborated on various aspects of income tax with special emphasis on salary components, exemptions, deductions, and the preparation and understanding of Form 16. She also discussed real-life examples, making the session highly interactive and practical.

The seminar proved to be very insightful for the students, bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application. It helped them gain a better understanding of income tax policies and their role in financial planning.

The Department of Commerce expressed gratitude to Ms. Sai Padma Reddy for her valuable contribution and to the college management for their support in organizing this program successfully.

Report on Career Guidance Program

Loyola Degree College (YSRR), Pulivendula, organized a Career Guidance Program on “How to Crack Group Examinations and Career Opportunities After Graduation” for the 2nd and final-year B.Com students on 3rd August 2024. The event was jointly organized by the Department of Commerce in collaboration with the Career Guidance Cell.

The session aimed to provide students with valuable insights into preparing for competitive examinations, particularly Group services, and to make them aware of various career options available after graduation.

The college had the privilege of inviting Ms. S. Divija, MPDO, as the Chief Guest for the program. She shared her journey of hard work and dedication that helped her achieve a prestigious Group 1 position, serving as an inspiration to the students. Her motivational talk on systematic preparation strategies, time management, and resource utilization for competitive exams greatly inspired the attendees.

A total of 250 students from the 2nd and 3rd-year B.Com courses actively participated in the program. The interactive session helped them gain clarity about career planning and the importance of determination in achieving their goals.

As part of this initiative, we had the privilege of inviting our esteemed alumnus, Mr. G.Santhosh, who is currently working as an Assistant Manager at a private company in Chennai. Mr. G.Santhosh delivered an inspiring and informative awareness speech to our students.

During his session, he shared his personal journey, the challenges he faced, and how he overcame them to reach his current position. He emphasized the importance of:
