The LOYOLADEGREE COLLEGE (YSRR) has promoted to the certificate course on tailoring for the academic of 2020-2021 through appropriately designed curriculum leading to gainful employment including self employment and entrepreneurship development.

 Our aim is to produce students who are employable. Producing competent students is our vision; they need to acquire not only knowledge but skills and social responsibility.  There more than 1000 girls from surrounding villages. Nearly 50% of them get married after graduation and remain at home. Tailoring and dress designing would provide an opportunity to earn their livelihood. This programme would provide a formal certification to attest their skills.

2)We also start  small scale industries set up by the government in tailoring.

Unit—1

 Basic principles of tailoring equipments:

Introduction – History of tailoring and Dress Designing – Market Demand – Aesthetic Values -Measuring tools -- marking tools -- cutting tools-- general tools –stitching techniques—dress measurements & techniques - anatomy of drafting garments - calculations and drafting patterns -terms used in tailoring

 Unit-2

Sewing machine &maintenance:

Parts of sewing machine-care and maintenance of sewing machine- minor defects and their rectification. Clothing Technology: Sewing Machineries, Sewing machine heads and accessories, Sewingneedles, Pressing technology, Fusing Technology, Apparel Production methods, Apparel Quality Control, etc.

Unit -3

Pattern making:

Pattern making &Drafting of different dresses and techniques of using various tucks,pleats,frills,openings,collars,sleeves,necklines ect. Skirts:12types,frocks:10 types,ladiesblouses:28to38size,plainmodelsalwar,Patialasalwar,chudidhar, kameez,kurtha,ladies shart,princesscut,ladies pants, hip belt,ladies hand purse.

Unit-4

 Garment construction:

 the method of cutting ,stitching and finishing the following garments- Garment making of the following products: Women’s Top, Women’s trouser, Women’s Garments,  frock, bags, hip belt, ladies hand purse, hand bags.

Unit-5

 Field visit/on site training:

Types of sewing machines industrial  ex: Electronic sewing machine, mechanical sewing machines, mini and portable machines, zigzag machines, embroidery machines, computerized and automated machines--Types of sewing machines which should you choose - Practical knowledge on different types of fabric, Plain, Twill and Satin weaves-Analysis of different types of weaves--Presentation techniques- design development sheet estimation of material requirements- Market Survey for Knitwear, Woven garments, Menswear, Women’s wear, Kids wear-- Sourcing of Raw materials, Costing of raw materials, Production cost of different garments, Costing techniques, Selling costs, Profit margin, etc.
