Zoology

The Department of Zoology, one of the oldest at Loyola Degree College, has been a center of excellence in the study of animal life and biodiversity. Zoology plays a vital role in understanding the structure, physiology, evolution, and conservation of the animal kingdom, which in turn contributes to medicine, agriculture, environmental protection, and sustainable living. At Loyola, the department is enriched with excellent infrastructure, including a well-equipped laboratory, advanced microscopes, experimental kits, and a dedicated Zoology Museum that offers students hands-on exposure to specimens and models. Through theory and practical learning, the department equips students with research skills, analytical abilities, and ecological awareness, preparing them for higher studies, research, and careers in life sciences.

Vision:
To foster scientific understanding of animal life and biodiversity, nurturing students as responsible stewards of nature and contributors to sustainable development.

Mission:
1. To provide strong theoretical and practical foundations in zoological sciences.
2. To develop students’ skills in microscopy, experimentation, and biological research.
3. To cultivate ecological awareness and conservation ethics.
4. To inspire innovation and interdisciplinary learning in life sciences for the benefit of society.
